Wow Brows...

The perfect brows are essential to any beauty regime. The correct shape and angle frames the face and can make you appear more youthful.

By slightly enhancing your natural arch and defining accordingly, a simple brow maintainence, when required, will keep you looking fresh and groomed.

Pop down to Cheynes Beauty Zone, David Lloyd Newhaven Harbour, for an eyebrow re-shape from just £11.00...

Britney goes midi...

Britney Spears shows off her famous blonde locks in a new light at the launch of the U.S. X Factor.

The pop star is set to be a new judge on the hit reality show, and looks fantastic in this ruby Herve Leger bandage dress.

Britney's midi length hair style creates a fresh and youthful look. Keeping length around her face allows this style to remain manageable and looks perfect styled with a soft Californian wave.

As seen on celebrities such as Alexa Cheung, Rachael Bilson and Olivia Palermo, the midi style is set to be a headlining trend for AW '12.

Colour splash...

Make your pout "pop" this summer with a splash of colour...

This seasons lolly pop lipsticks brighten up your complexion and add a real summer finish to your look.

If you are anything like myself, my lipstick is my prized posession and would most definetly be my item to accompany me on a desert island until the end of time...

I love how different shades can transform your look from daytime into the evening. Check out the recommended handpicked shades below...

MAC Lipstick in "Impassioned"

This gorgeous tropical pink toned lipstick is perfect for the summer months ahead. Whether it's a "staycation" or "vacation" this year, this shade will compliment any skin tone and hair colour. This is gorgeous worn with minimal eyemake up or gently hued down with a neutral tone for a glamourous evening look set off by a smokey eye...

MAC Lipstick in "UP the Amp"

This particular colour is not the obvious choice for a lipstick. But don't be put off, with a glowing tan this bubblegum shade looks stunning with any hair colour. As seen originally on Lorraine Adamczuk at the Cheynes Head Office, I could not resist and neither should you!

MAC Lipstick in "Vegas Volt"

The summer classic Coral is back with an 80's twist. With added orange tones, this lipstick definetly gets you in the mood for the warmer months. Worn daily or for special occasions, this shade is always a staple winner for me and is compatible with many eye make-up looks.

Top knots are too hot to trot....

This season brings the return of the classic bun with a twist.

It's all about the dishevelled look with the oh so funky "top knot". This style is suitable for casual or formal occasions, adding an element of Rock Chic elegance to any outfit.

The Cheynes Hairdressing artistic group, Team Fusion, played on this current trend in their latest photoshoot last Sunday and I was eager to find out what makes the perfect top knot....

Karen Black from the Bruntsfield Avenue salon said;

"The perfect top knot should be aligned to your jaw line to elongate your neck and create the perfect silhouette. If this is followed through, the shape created is very flattering".

Natalie McCrindle from Bruntsfield Avenue also added;

"When styling a top knot, it's nice to leave it looking unfinished. That way it doesn't look too overdone and creates a effortless style with attention to detail".

So whether you have an event coming up or you want to experiment with different looks from day to day, make sure the "top knot" is on your agenda to keep you looking fresh and current...
